Green New Deal Teach-In

  • UAF Schaible Auditorium (map)

As part of a series of Earth Week events, a coalition of community and academic organizations will host “A Green New Deal Teach-in: A Framework for Transformation.” The Green New Deal is one vision for rapid and transformative action to address the urgent climate crisis while also creating a just transition to a sustainable economy.

A diverse panel of Alaskan thinkers and organizers will hold a discussion to better understand what a Green New Deal could mean for Alaska and for Fairbanks. Speakers will discuss various aspects of the GND: Tristan Glowa will provide an overview of the Green New Deal and climate change background; Princess Johnson will discuss social justice and inequality; Professor Alex Hirsch will discuss the political economic background of the GND. Bruno Grunau will address the possibilities of a regenerative economy and renewable energy.

There will be plenty of time for group discussion and opportunities to get plugged in to climate and justice work happening in our community.
