Arctic Refuge Hearing

We are writing to you with gratitude for all you do through your various good works for our community and the world. We also write knowing the urgency of the climate situation we are in demands unprecedented action and a collective voice to defend the lands and waters that sustain us. We need you to join us in creating that collective voice, this Monday the 4th at 5p at the Carlson Center to Defend the Arctic Refuge .

The Trump Administration has planned an Arctic Refuge drilling hearing here in Fairbanks this Monday, Feb 4th with only *5* days notice!! This "open house" hearing will be from 1-7pm at the Carlson Center, with presentations at 2pm & 5pm. We think it's this rushed because they're worried about Fairbanks showing up, so it's all the more important we do. Can we count on you to come, comment & share this action? We’re going to make a showing of Refuge defenders at the 5pm presentation and stand together then with a collective voice. Please wear your Arctic Refuge/Defend the Sacred swag if you have it. If not, Native Movement has a sale on items for those planning to attend the hearing, check out their webpage for details.

Hearing & Comment Details:

The open house meeting format also does not allow attendees to hear each other's testimony; instead, oral testimony will be delivered one on one to a stenographer. So, all the more we need to show up and speak up to signal our care:

We are including some links to talking points below. So as not to be overwhelmed, one suggestion is to choose one substantive area from the talking points to use “as is” or adapt in your own words, and to come prepared with a written statement. If you cannot make it to the hearing Monday, BLM is also holding open the online comment period until March 13. We also invite you to comment here: )
