Offshore Drilling Beaufort Lease Sale Comments Due

The Department of Interior announced an extension, until May 30th, for comment information and nominations covering a proposed lease sale in Alaska’s Beaufort Sea Planning Area in 2019. This lease sale threatens to expedite oil and gas exploration in this culturally and environmentally sensitive area. This announcement comes prior to the finalization of the 5 -year plan for outer continental shelf drilling. This action ignores the comments from not-only over 1.5 million Americans, but the communities across Alaska that depend on these coasts for survival. Please comment here.

Pebble Mine Comments Due

The Pebble Partnership is pushing a fast-tracked mine permit review that threatens Bristol Bay's communities, cultures, economy, and way of life. Bristol Bay needs YOU to send a clear message that Pebble Mine should not be built in Bristol Bay. Without strong opposition and early public input, one of Pebble's key permits could be granted. Learn more at http://utbb.org/get-involved/ and you can view Pebble's application and get other EIS info at https://pebbleprojecteis.com/

Arctic Refuge Art Party

The Notice of Intent to sell leases of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge was just released. Our Senators and Representative are looking to sell off the Arctic Refuge as quickly and as quietly as possible - but not on our watch! There will be only five public hearings, likely held at the end of May, about selling leases in the Arctic Refuge, and they'll only be held in Alaska.

SO, let's art about it! We're holding an emergency art party to create art to bring to the hearings in protest of the leasing. We will provide art supplies, although you're always welcome to bring some of your own if you'd like. We'll also have a station for you to write a letter to the editor. And we'll have snaaaaacks!

Hope to see y'all there!!
